"Casato" meaning family farm personifies the vertical lineage passed on from fathers to sons. The Woodward roots are firmly planted here at the farm and this wine is a tribute to our family roots. Harvested from Osoyoos, BC, this wine was aged for 18 months in French oak followed by an additional year lying down in the bottle. An earthy nose opens to chocolate covered cherries, leather and blueberry flavors that linger on a velvety and generous finish.

This Merlot is deep and rich in colour with hints of chocolate covered black cherries and leather aromas. On the palate the wild warm cherry continues with smooth silky tannins with a rich flavour that lingers on a velvety and generous finish.

Food Pairing Notes
This Merlot has rich character and structure. While it would pair wonderfully with Boeuf Bourguignon and carmelized roasted veggies, it is equally elegant with a decadent rich casserole or dishes with creamy sauces. Salads accompanied with red berries will bring out the subtle cherry flavors of the wine.
